Hi Everyone, Last week I sent the following query: Have any of you purchased a generic scanner that seamlessly replaces the Follett 3800? If so, what?, where?, and how much? Below are the responses I received. I hope they're helpful. Donna Guild Elementary Librarian San Luis Coastal USD donnaguild@charter.net Our district purchased Imageteam 3800 scanners #119231 (these are USB connected scanners but they also carry non-usb connected versions). These cost $249 each. From SystemID www.systemid.com They've worked like a charm for 2 years so far : ) If you get them, simply scan the barcode in the booklet that says "Add CR Suffix, All Symbologies" once and that sets them to automatically go to the next line (as if you were hitting the ENTER key). That's all we've had to do and they work with Follett perfectly. ______________________________________________________ We bought several from Barcode Discount Warehouse. I don't remember the price, but it somewhere around $300.00 - $350.00. Call their number and ask for your rep. They will get you a price quote. We have not had any problems...and customer service is great. I accidentally re-set the scanner to factory settings and they emailed me barcodes to program it back for Follett info. The scanner come with a 5 year warranty without needing to purchase an extended warranty! http://www.bcdw.com/ 1-800-888-BCDW __________________________________________________________ from my own research: we sell the HHP3800 which is the same model you have... $224 per unit and if you want to add a stand $37...plus shipping it comes with a 5-year warranty from MINITEX Library Information Network University of Minnesota ___________________________________________________ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
