Thanks everyone!
I had the answer to the title I was looking for today and my friend was
very happy and impressed with LM_Net, as everyone should be :-)
Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and the correct title. I love
this group!

Hi, Diane--

I know this story! In fact, I have the book it appears in right in front
of me. : )

The story is "Mr. Apple Names the Children" by Jean McDevitt. It
appeared in _The Story Hour_, a Child Horizens series published in 1953.
It was a hand-me-down book from my older siblings in the early 60s, and
your posting made me look through it for the first time in years. What
happy memories!

Best,
Belinda
