Hello Voices of Reason, Our district is opening a new elementary school in September. Unfortunately, they will not hire the library media specialist in advance, as per our request. The assumption is that the librarians from the other buildings will step up and order all the books, materials, etc. I have searched the archives, but found topics that specifically discussed floorplans and vendors. We are actually looking for feedback regarding the amount of time necessary to get everything ordered and arranged; and, hopefully, examples of administation who supported the process. The floor plans are set. Here are some questions my colleagues have posited: * How much time did the librarian need to do the physical aspects of setting up the new facility? * Was the teachers' union supportive in communicating to administration the extra demands an LMS needs in setting up a new library? * What are some suggestions to consider when talking w/ administration about lead time to setting up? * Any suggestions in purchasing (vendors, cost etc) the opening day collection? Any difficulties? Thanks for any information you can share, Susan Kirby-LeMon Skano Elementary Clifton Park, NY kirbsusa@shenet.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
