I need a good ear and a good mind to help me through this problem.
We're trying to set up a mobile lab of five PC (CTL) laptops for a team
that will be attaching holdings in various school libraries starting in
January. Any help in making this work will be appreciated.

Here's what we've got
CTL PC laptops, Windows 2000 5.0 service pack 4
Percon mini-PowerWedge barcode reader
USB to PS/2 adaptor (Cables Unlimited) - split at the PS/2 end - one
connection for mouse, one connection for keyboard
(NOTE - we've used with success in other situations a similar, but
older Belkin USB to PS/2 adaptor that was a one-to-one adaptor.)
Wasp Notebook Keyboard Terminator
AnzioLite 15

I've tried various configurations - testing with a brand new barcode
reader, just out of the box, and also testing with a barcode reader that
I know works, borrowed from the circ desk computer.
--laptop to adapter to barcode reader, no keyboard terminator anywhere
- barcode reader doesn't scan (mouse connection on the adaptor and
keyboard connection on the barcode cable left open)
--laptop to adaptor to barcode reader, keyboard terminator on the
shorter tail on the barcode reader - barcode reader does not scan (this
configuration worked on a laptop in use at one of our elementary
schools, using the older 1-to-1 Belkin USB to PSN adaptor)
--laptop to adaptor to barcode reader, keyboard terminator on the mouse
connection on the USB to PS/2 adapter - barcode reader does not scan.
--laptop to adaptor to barcode reader, keyboard terminator of the
keyboard connection on the barcode reader cable; mouse on the other end
of the split USB to PS/2 adaptor - barcode reader does not scan.

Thanks for any tips! Also any hints for what I might be doing wrong
gratefully accepted.

Please excuse the cross-postings.

Cheers. Edith.
