I am on the technology curriculum at my (K-12) school. We are looking at our curriculum and working on finding ideas of things to change or add. The questions that I am asking are by nature very broad, but if anyone has any ideas for the following questions, I would appreciate your help! 1. Is web design something that is taught at your school? At what level? 2. How do you teach acceptable use of the internet? Is it taught in a specific class or is it absorbed into some other class, ie. an English class? 3. How intensive is your technology curriculum at the Elementary, Middle, or High School level? 4. Do you offer email for all of your students? If so what do you see as the positive benefits of doing that? We currently offer it to students all of our students, however we are considering taking it away for 8th grade and below because it has become a source of electronic note passing :-( 5. I am doing a survey with our students K-8 to assess their technology savvy. Some of the things that I will be asking about, is whether they have a computer at home, if they have internet access at home, if they or their parents have an email address, if they ever connect to the school's database from home. Do you have any other ideas of questions I could ask to get a more complete answer? Or do you have a survey that you have used that you would be willing to share? Thanks for any help! It is not a temple where literary incense must be burned or where one's devotion to the bound book is expressed in ritual. A library, to modify the famous metaphor of Socrates, should be the delivery room for the birth of ideas - a place where history comes to life. - Cited in ALA Bulletin, Oct. 1954, p.475 Norman COUSINS (1915- ) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
