I have a chance to apply for $200.00 from our county council PTA to
match the annual allotment from my school PTA. I was thinking about
purchasing state books. I remember looking at two series when I was
at AASL last fall.
They were:
World Almanac Library of the States
Portraits of the States
I have the America the Beautiful series (which are late 1980's and
getting old) and an easier set (can't come up with a series name)
which are somewhat newer. My students love both series and check
them out all the time.
We are a PreK-5 school of about 264 students. If you have a
recommendation for a particular series of state books (or another
series of nonfiction books that my students would especially enjoy),
please let me know off-list. I would like to get something
"educational" so that I can easily convince the county PTA to match
my existing funds. I don't just want to tell them that I want to buy
"books" with the money.
