Happy New Year!

I have been asked by administration to do centers in the library for fifth
graders (and possibly 4th). The classes size is around 25 each class. I
would welcome any suggestions since I do not have any idea how to run a
center.

Let me give you background of my school. City setting, K-5 school with 850+
students. 65% hispanic, large Bosnian + Somalian population (many ESL), This
is the first year that 4th & 5th graders have come to the library (I've been
told over 15 yrs). This is my second year. Last year I saw all K,1,2,&3
classes.
I do have access to computers but I can't always count on having them when
these classes arrive.

In my heart I believe that borrowing books is of upmost importance.(even
though half of them forget them). I have tried reading to these classes but
many complain about sitting on the rug.
Help!!!

Please respond to my personal address. I will post a hit if anyone is
interested in the responses.
Thank you.
