Hello, friends, I've been a public school librarian for 8 years now and love my job, however as a single mom I am thinking of moving to a public library situation for more hours/higher pay. My local library has several openings, but tell me I am not qualified for PS Librarian 2 or 3 or higher since I have an M Ed (from a certified FL school llibrary program) rather than an MLS. I am going to interview for the position anyway hoping that my experience, personality, and qualifications will sway them. I have an interview next Tuesday. I'd like your professional opinion as to what duties might be different for a public librarian. I have been trained in cataloging, technology, administration, selection, customer service, information procurement, reference, resources, etc, as well as a strong technology base. I know the job would be different, but am I wrong to think I should be able to adapt easily, and that most tasks would be similar? Thanks in advance!
