Just finished Jeanette Wall's, The Glass Castle: A Memoir.
Writer Walls grew up in an unusual family with a charismatic and energetic
father whose drinking keeps them moving place to place, but as he says's, "Pack
up! We're off on another adventure!" Her mom was a certified teacher, who
really didn't like having to discipline or do paperwork, so Jeanette (at 10) often
graded papers and took care of everything...just to keep her mother employed.
When she became successful, her vagabond parents followed her to NYC, and
chose to be homeless. so they wouldn't be a burden. Told with humor and
poignancy. Fascinating!
