Thank you so much for your great suggestions for our alpaca crias! Both moms gave birth within 18 hours of each other, last Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon! They little girl came first, then the boy. We named them Annabel Lee (because she came on our ANNiversary and because of the beautiful poem by Poe) and Oliver (because we actually saw his birth taking place, and with the membrane covering hanging in shreds around him, I thought he looked like a beggar boy! Also, he was "twisting" all over the place! We weren't convinced of the name at first, but we just couldn't stand to call him "no name" for long, and Oliver really seemed to suit him! For all of you whose names we didn't pick, we'll be saving your suggestions for our next breeding, hopefully next fall! It's amazing how some names just seem to fit when you see the actual little one. Thanks again, and if you'd like to see more of the story, and some pics, I've set up a really small blog at: http://jerseyshorealpacas.blogspot.com/ Tish Carpinelli, Media Specialist Lower Cape May Regional H.S.
