Here's great opportunity for school librarians to collaborate with science teachers! The National Science Teachers Association sponsors a science competition called Exploravision and it requires research. Success in this competition depends as much on students' skills in school libraries as it does on their skills in the science labs. About the competition: The competition is free to enter and open to students in the U.S. and Canada, K-12. Teams of students select a technology, research how it works and why it was invented, and then project how that technology may change in the future. They must then identify what breakthroughs are required for their vision to become a reality and describe the positive and negative consequences of their technology on society. Prizes include four awards of $10,000, four awards of $5,000, twenty four laptops, etc. See http://www.exploravision.org <http://www.exploravision.org> for more details. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
