Dear Wise Ones, I have a real challenge for you this morning! Our Collinsville HS Lady Pirates will be playing in the IA state final softball game tomorrow morning at 8, at the UT softball field. We want to go, but don't want to get up at 3 am! So our challenge is to find a decent, inexpensive (must be under $50) place to stay TONIGHT in a city full up for a biker rally! We will be driving from the north on I-35. We don't need many amenities, because our plan is to arrive in the Austin area after dinner, crash, go to the game, and come back home after lunch. Just hot water, bug-free, and nothing next door I'm going to have to explain to my 8-year-old daughter before I'm ready! So, Austinites, what's your advice? Do we need to stay in Georgetown or someplace else north of Austin? Is there any place you recommend? Perhaps more importantly, is there any place we should AVOID? I have a very short time frame to plan this, because we need to leave by two to three at the latest to have a nice, leisurely drive and still get to bed at a reasonable hour. (As opposed to yesterday, when we drove both ways in one day and were grateful for the small rain delay in the first game so we didn't miss anything in ours.) Humorous note: Our Collinsville Lady Pirates are playing the Eula Lady Pirates. Our colors are maroon and gold, theirs are maroon and white! So the Texas IA softball champ is guaranteed to be the Lady Pirates, wearing maroon!
