Dear LM_NET'ers,

I have been contacted by brand new international school in
Germany to set up their library. The head of schools wants a
reasonably priced, user friendly, well-supported library
circulation software system.

The school was established approximately 9 months ago, has a
present head count of approximately 70 students. The school
plans to expand rapidly and eventually enroll approximately 250
to 300 K-12 students. Considering the school's present location
(older villa) I would estimate it would take them approximately
five years to obtain a collection of 5000 books.

Several library automation systems were introduced in
the December 2004 Supplement to Library Journal and we have
contacted L4U, Sagebrush, Alexandria, and the European
Division of Softlink to get quotes.

I would like to hear from anyone who has other systems they
recommend, who has had experience with Open Source library
software, or from someone who uses either Mandarin or L4U
software, especially if you are located in Europe.

Thanks for your help in this matter,

Carol Koepsell, Librarian (from 1 August 2006)
International School Wiesbaden
