[LM_NET] GEN: Sci-Fi Book Title?

Does anyone recognize this..........
I am looking for title and author. 
 
It's a SciFi book in which the main character crashes
onto another planet and finds himself in a clearing
with a large thornbush.  In the clearing are an
android maid (?) and two children.  It ends with the
main character getting his arms and legs cut off.
 
Any chance someone knows this book??  Thanks so much.
