Thank you for all the information. I've used TitlePeek for about 3 years in my elementary school. My students love it. In fact, when they get to the middle school as 5th graders, they're disappointed that it's not on that OPAC. My aide and I also use it for students who misplace a book and claim never to have taken it out. We show them the TitlePeek cover to 'improve' their memory.. I would definitely recommend it, especially since it's so inexpensive. ************************************ Yes, we have TitlePeek, and it works very well. Some books have excellent annotations along with a picture of the book's cover, while others just show the cover. This is our second year with TitlePeek and although I haven't noticed the students flocking to OPAC just to see the TitlePeek info, they do get a kick out of seeing the book cover come up and it makes the catalog more interesting ************************************* We just purchased Title Peek and we love it, as do our students. They are using the computers more to search for books, but we have not had it long enough to say that our circulation has increased. Good luck, **************************************** All of the schools in Oneida have it (k-12). When we first got it, we weren't certain how useful it would be at the secondary level. It has been such a success that the principals in each building devote a portion of the NYS software funds to continue it each year! Elementary teachers love the reviews and comments...helps them learn about the titles and match students with books. Kids (of all levels) love seeing the covers and it truly does help them locate the items on the shelves. Once you get it, you won't be able to live without it! **************************************************** We use Title Peek with Destiny and the kids love it--I love itt! It really helps kids (and sometimes me) locate the books we are looking for. A word of caution though--not all titles will have a cover and you cannot add the covers yourself. ******************************************* I love Titlepeek and so do my grade 1 - 5 students. I use the book covers for booktalks using Powerpoint. If a student loses a book, we can look to see what the book looks like. Sometimes our copy doesn't match with what's in the catalog, but that doesn't happen often. Primary students have more success using the catalog because they can look at the cover instead of reading the title. I would be very sad if this feature were suddently taken away. It is well worth the investment. ************************************************ We've had TitlePeek for about 3 weeks now. I've only introduced it to 3 classes out of the 48 English classes we have, so I can't say yet how good it is going to be. However, I'm happy with what I'm starting to see happen. One teacher has told me how she has used it and liked it, and a fellow librarian at another campus (we bought it for the district) told me today how she used it recently. I've used it repeatedly myself. I think it is going to be something we can't imagine doing without in a few months. We don't have Destiny, so its integration in Follett Windows is not as smooth as I had expected, but I think it is going to work for us. One Follett feature that we definitely can't live out is WebCollection. It puts our on-line catalog on the web. ************************************* The kids love it and it actually helps sell the book, especially if the cover is attractive, and makes it easier to eyeball the book on the shelf. ****************************************** My district uses Destiny and we do have Title Peek. It is a nice enhancement for the books, but in high school, I can't say that our circulation has increased by having it. Some things that have occurred: My collection is mixed - some old materials and some new. The older materials might have an old ISBN and that number may have been assigned to another book as the old book went out of print, for example. I found this by chance on some of my titles that the books did not match up with the picture. I was able to rectify the situation by speaking to our rep from Follett. The only other thing I noticed was that the picture from Title Peek was not the same as the picture on the actual book. This may be as a result of putting many books of the same title, but different publishers, on the same record. When books change from hardcover to paperback, the pictures may be different. Not all books have a picture. Overall, I believe of all the enhancements for Destiny, Title Peek is a nice feature. ****************************************** We went to Follett's Destiny last August. I started the year with TitlePeek. Our patrons LOVE it and so do I. I think it is a costly ongoing expense but I still pay for it. ***************************************** Our kids really like to see the covers. Not everything has a cover in your collection but everything back to late 90's seems to show up......... ************************************** We have it K - 12 and love it. It gets back some over dues. There is information in back of those covers, so you are getting more than just an attractive cover. Go for it. :) ***************************************** We love it. Can't imagine not having it now! When a kid loses a book, show them the cover and they remember where it is! Kids love it. ******************************************* Our district just got Destiny this past January and TitlePeak was one of our enhancements. Our kids love it -- it looks more like Amazon.com like they're used to, and we find it also serves as a reminder to them if they don't "remember" checking out a book -- they look at the picture of the front of the book, and say -- Oh yeah, I remember now! Depending on the speed of your server and your bandwidth, it may slow down the catalogue pulling up at certain times of the day, but we've liked it. ******************************************* We got TitlePeek when we upgraded to Follett's Destiny product. We love it! The users love seeing what the book looks like and it is even helpful when they can't remember checking out a book - the cover is a great memory enhancer. Go for it! ******************************************** Nancy O'Donnell Library Media Specialist Hoover Middle School 249 Thorncliff Rd.
