Here are a few sites that relate to historical relevance to Mother Goose---all of which make sense when a student is studying history---and which relate to current events, music, etc. (One of the most enjoyable learning experiences that I was involved in was when I took a group of seniors to London during Spring Break. Our tour guide not only did a great job showing us the city, he also gave us a great history lesson relating to nursery rhymes and Mother Goose. My seniors talked about it LONG after the trip ended---and that's one lesson that's hard to reproduce, but the history of the rhymes always make sense to me when I'm teaching resources in history or literature.) http://www.english.uwaterloo.ca/courses/engl208c/esharris.htm http://www.rhymes.org.uk/a13-cackle-cackle-mother-goose.htm http://www.rhymes.org.uk/ http://eclipse.rutgers.edu/goose/ http://trmg.designwest.com/intro.html http://www.google.com/Top/Society/Folklore/Literature/Rhymes/Nursery/Mother_Goose/ http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0517029596/104-9160489-9487104?v=glance&n=283155 ~Shonda Shonda Brisco, MLIS US / Technology Librarian 4200 Country Day Lane Fort Worth Country Day School Fort Worth, TX 817.732.7718 ext. 339 "We can't wait for somebody outside of ourselves to rescue us, because nobody is coming to the rescue..." ~ Ross Todd, Professor School of Communications, Information, and Library Studies, Rutgers University sbrisco@fwcds.org http://www.fwcds.org/campus/libraries/default.asp -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
