I also have that concern. I am working on a research project with our
English department. The students are required to research
globalization topics - and web 2.0 technologies are common topics of
interest to students. Because we are promoting "flat world" skills -
technology being big among them - we wanted the students to use new
technologies whenever possible in their research and their
presentations. So - I did present a similar option for notetaking to
the students. We are making a HUGE point of requiring the students who
choose this option to highlight in yellow any and ALL text that they
copy and paste dirstly from a source. This whole year is a true
experiement and we will see what happens. The teachers check every step
of the way, and we use turnitin.com - so there are some safequards. i
DO worry that plagiarism will increase for those teachers that are not
as dilengent with periodic checks and/or who do not make use of
turnitin.com.

I know Mike is an authority in the field, but with all this cutting and

pasting to Powerpoint and Word, don't you
think it would foster plagarism, knowingly or unknowingly? How many
kids are going to take the time to rework these
ideas, no matter how much we tell them to?
