Look for the 'Fooling with Words' two-video series by Bill Moyer.

On this video, it contains contemporary poets even though the video is a
few years old now.  Some poets to consider:
Kurtis Lamking
Lucille Clifton
Stephen Bly, etc.

There's also a book by the same title.  Great resources!!
