In my original message, I asked for help locating book titles written in
Spanish that would be appropriate for a high school library. I received
several helpful responses. Thank you so much. Pia Alliende attached a
wonderful pathfinder and bibliography, which I have not included in this
email. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, I have included Pia's
contact information. The responses I received are as follows:

You'll find two lists here for Spanish literature, High School and Middle
School. Click on the titles to see the cataloging and reading levels. Look
under the list recommended by Jo Lewis.

Hope this helps,

I too am a library student, and just finished a project on this subject.
Although our project was about elementary titles, many of the same sources
would apply.

1. The Baharona Center for Children's Books
http://www.csusm.edu/csb/
Maintained by Dr. Isabel Schon, one of the primary people in the field. She
reviews almost every new Spanish title. Print copies of her reviews can be
found in the series "Recommended Books in Spanish for Children and Young
Adults". Lanham , MD : The Scarecrow Press, Inc. The newest one is for
2000-2004, but she has been publising these since 1987.

2. York , S. 2002. Children's and Young Adult Literature by Latino Writers:
a Guide for Librarians, Teachers, Parents and Students. Worthington , OH :
Linworth Publishing, Inc.

This book is comprehensive, containing reviews, publishing information,
awards, and reading levels of Latino literature for children.

3. Criticas Magazine
http://www.criticasmagazine.com
A review magazine for Spanish-language literature. It also includes a
Spanish-Language Publisher's Directory
http://www.criticasmagazine.com/article/CA440014.html
and publishes booklists and many other articles of interest.

4. Here's a link to the webpage we created as part of our project, and it
has many more sources on it.

Good luck!
