Skippyjon Jones has become an icon at our school. I have read it to classes from kindergarten through third grade, and they all love it. As a matter of fact, when they see me coming down the hall, they begin to sing, "Oh, my name is Skippito Friskito; I fear not a single bandito..." They love the sounds of the Spanish words and love learning the meanings of those words. I personally love Skippyjon because I have two Siamese cats at home, and I now have a better understanding for what is going on in their silly little minds, but also, the stories are really lots of fun. My students are begging me to finish reading these books to the other classes so they can begin to check them out. As a matter of fact, I have the third book on pre-order, but it doesn't come out until the middle of this month. We can hardly wait! I was a bit concerned about the comments on Amazon about the Hispanic complaints, but I showed the book to a Hispanic mother at my school, and she immediately fell in love with it, too.
