LM_NET Archive

Other than our professional journals we no longer archive any magazines.
We have thrown away, given away & have stacks for the students &
teachers to cut up. Each month when we put out the new magazines, the
previous editions go to our free shelf for the students to take; if they
want one of the new ones we put their name on the back & save it for
them. Since our students love to read magazines our subscriptions are
purely for pleasure; we even make a monthly trip to the post office to
pick up the undeliverable ones to give to our students. Magazine
research is conducted through the KY Virtual Library.

I threw away 10 yrs of magazines 2 years ago (including 30 yrs of
National
Geographic)... No one has ever asked for one since that day.

I subscribe to about 8 magazines at this point and they are rarely used.
Perhaps because we don't have any study halls, the students have no time
to
browse with magazines.

Getting rid of the magazines freed up a back room for our growing (over
1,000) videos and DVDs and CDs.
