Hi, As one of the few librarians who is also an Advanced Teacher Fellow of the US Holocaust Museum I would caution against over use of videos. Schindler's List is often used with little context for the students. The Museum also warns against what we call "Death's Head" photos or films. Have you looked at the Museums' website yet? There are fantastic materials available online, including lesson plans and exhibitions. The museum will also send you some great materials for free. Do you have access to an LCD projector? If so I can send you a CD that I created with materials and teaching activities. My dissertation topic is Libraries and the Integration of Holocaust Curricula, so I have tons and tons of information that may be of interest. I also just returned from 2 weeks in Italy visiting sites important to pre-war Jewish life and the Holocaust. As I'm sure you know there are many ways you can go when teaching the Holocaust. Take time to look at the Museum's guidelines. They can prevent you from many mistakes that land teachers in the national news. Another great resource is the book The Holocaust Chronicle. The full text is available online. http://www.holocaustchronicle.org/ There is also a fantastic offer of 6 books for $100 to non-profit organizations. If you (or anyone else) would like to email me off list I would be pleased to answer your questions. I'll also be at the Tennessee Technology Conference at the end of November presenting teaching ideas for Holocaust studies. (Free materials everyone! Yeah!)
