Okay experts I feel absolutely silly asking this question but here goes. I was
preparing to do a fic/non fic lesson tomorrow, pulling books when I realized all
through school I think I just accepted certain things as fact with out question.
Why are poetry, ryhyming and fables/folktales etc. in the non fiction section. When
I think in kids terms as real and make believe, or true and untrue, why is a poem
not a story that is "made up" and put in fiction??? Why are ryhming books non
fiction. Maybe the answer is obvious and it is still too early but if anyone has
any hints of things to tell the kids please let me know. Thanks.
