Hello, Our middle school uses Teacher Advisory periods to connect with students each morning and provide small group peer support. Our TA activities are based around a theme that changes each school year. This year, our faculty group has chosen Wellness and Nutrition as our theme, specifically focused on healthy choices about foods, drinks and exercise. Can anyone suggest books or web sites that would have some activities we could use in TA periods? Anything you've used in nutrition units that has worked especially well? Our school also does a One School, One Book program around the same theme. We've chosen Chew on this: everything you don't want to know about fast food by Eric Schlosser. However, we fear that the reading level of this selection is too high for about half of our students. We'd like to find some nutrition and wellness books that would cover similar material, that are readable, but that don't look like "baby" books. Any suggestions? Thanks for all your help!
