Thanks to everyone who responded.
This is my original post:

Hi everyone,
I am looking for ways to improve interest in our new middle school/high
school library. I was thinking of making a blog or wiki (I don't know which
format would be better) to post information about books in the library, or
books in general, and have students and faculty participate. This would be
linked from the school website and intended for the school community only.
Does anyone have any experience with this that they can share? Comments,
advice and any infomation would be appreciated. Please reply directly to
me.
Thanks

Responses:
Some of the libraries in our district are doing a book blog on
wordpress.org

I set up a wiki for my book reviews (
http://lmsbookclub.wikispaces.com). It's just now getting off the
ground. I thought this would make more sense since than a blog because
I could list pages alphabetically on the side bar for easy access. You
can have them set up to have usernames and passwords (they can do it
themselves and request to join your space or you email usernames and
passwords directly to help@wikispaces.com , and they will add them) and
Wikispaces will take out the ads once you tell them you're an
educational organization. You can have it open to all people (anyone
can edit) OR you can set it up so users would have to log in and request
permission to join your space.

Have you ever looked at Library Thing? http://www.librarything.com
