[LM_NET] Tar: Elem Favorite Regional Stories

Hi.  Our K-2 school is traveling across the USA this year during our weekly 
assembly program.  We "visit" a state each  month and I would like to read a 
folktale, legend or story from each place we visit.  We are going to:
 
California
Arizona
Texas
South Dakota
Missouri
Washington, DC
Pennsylvania
New York
 
If you have a great, favorite read aloud story from or about one of these places, 
please let me know!  Thanks, as always, for your time and great suggestions.
