Here is our dilemma... Currently we have one of the only (maybe THE only?) high school in Pennsylvania without a certified librarian in place. We have been valiantly attempting to change this for the past three years. Our high school principal will be speaking to the board about this soon and will be asked "why do you need a high school librarian?" The board has already been inundated with research and papers as well as pleas from parents and some students. They have been handed the Keith Curry Lance studies as well as articles and excerpts from Information Power. What I am looking for are "sound bytes", essentially, that the principal can use during this question period that answer in concise and clever ways the many reasons why we need a certified high school librarian. If you have any short and to the point statements that would help him to answer this question clearly and definitively as well as strongly make his point, I would REALLY appreciate the help!
