I have to agree with Allan. I call myself a librarian, the place where I work, a 
library, and the computers on which students search for books, the card catalog 
computers. Call me old fashioned, but I don't see a big need to change these terms. 
I have never had a student who was confused about what I meant. And the word 
catalog simply means a list or to classify or catergorize items according to a 
classification system. Isn't that what we do when we catalog a book? Don't colleges 
still have course catalogs? I think that if you try to change terminology too 
often, you risk making things even more confusing because not everyone knows what 
the term du jour is.
