Oh experienced ones - I am trying to "liven up" my birthday book program. Right now the parents fill out a form at registration; I pick the book, and present it to the student at chapel. As you can imagine, some students are quite mortified by this, others don't really care, and still others revel in the attention. As it is now, most birthday students never come check out their book. After chapel my avid readers rush to check out the new books. I am trying to think of a way to make it attractive to these older students. The elementary librarian is going to start taking pictures of the students with their books and posting them on a bulletin board, but again I am not sure this will be considered a neat thing by secondary students. I am planning on allowing the student to choose their own book from my "stash" next year. Anyone else have a creative program going on now with secondary students? I will post a hit.TIA Tere Hager Secondary Librarian Brentwood Christian School 11908 N.
