Hi All,

Several of my third grade teachers had expressed to me that their students
were having a difficult time with the concept of "theme". So this week I
have a lesson planned using the story "Amos and Boris" to address the theme
of friendship. However, I am having a very hard time finding a kid-friendly
definition for "theme" or one that actually makes it clear to them what it
is. Since I was never a classroom teacher, this is a new area for me to
teach. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
