For 30 years I have stamped page 49. I do that because when there is a
problem with a book such as a challenge or whatever, I know that I was the
one who purchased the book. I consider it my signature.

Subject: TAR: Do you stamp a page of each book?

All the librarians in our district stamp a certain page with the library's
name and address. I've been dutifully stamping page 53 of every new book
for five years, and I have no idea why I do it. I stamp the title page and
the pocket. It's time-consuming stamp another page, and it surely doesn't
add to the aesthetic appeal of the book. Do you do this? I'd say this was
a stupid question, but surely no librarians believe there IS a stupid
question:)
