I really enjoy and appreciate when we do the Tar(get) request and then do the HIT of a compilation of results to the list. It helps cut down on individuals sending to the list and then we get a nice summary email with the results. However, I would like to make a suggestion. Sometimes what we need is a discussion - not a Target. Could we have a designation for that? Then those who aren't interested could just delete those message when they come in and those who want to weigh in could continue the discussion. Along this same vein - could those who send thanks back to the list with the title of a book they were looking for please include something about it? Often I am left wondering what description went to what book.
