I am trying to choose a selection of books for gifted 7th grade readers on the topic of conflict. It could be personal conflict, community conflict or conflicts within or between nations. So far we are considering Give a Boy a Gun by Todd Strasser Smir and Yonatan by Carmi Habibi by Nye how i live now by Rosoff Our 6th graders read Deborah Ellis' books starting with Parvana's Journey so we are not considering those. I would like your suggestion as well as your comments about the books we are currently considering. Also, would you consider The book Thief appropriate for these students. They seem to need "meaty" titles and ignore most of the solid middle school titles we have tried in the past.
