This question is for those of you using Destiny. This is our first year with it and at our training our trainer had us all set our calendars so that the days we are closed due to holidays would be calculated into our due dates. I thought this would mean that we would no longer have TONS of books overdue when we come back from break. Instead, we're finding that it just doesn't make the books due during our break, but now they are all due the day we come back - which of course they will NOT all be returned on that date. I had the impression that this feature would take into account the days we are closed and adjust the due date from that (not counting those days we are closed). Upon calling Destiny, this was their response: "Adjust the Load Period under Library Policies. Starting with December 7th, change the loan period to be 35 days, instead of 14, if you wanted them due back on January 10th. Each day, then the load period would have to be changed to accomodate the date change." Is it just me or does this seem ridiculous?? I don't see how they could have made this anymore UN-userfriendly. Am I misunderstanding something or is there any other way around this problem? How have the rest of you dealt with holidays and due dates - aside from just ignoring the zillions of overdue items and waiting for them to gradually be returned...?
