Just thinking; With my automated catalog I CAN put whatever subject headings I want since I don't have to type out the cards. Plus I can use keyword searches to access information in the summary. But do I want to add in the database, ANY tags individual users want? Will that confuse other users? i.e. Tag as "Red book" for other users who might have other "Red books". How much do I want to customize my database for individual users as opposed to general population? I put in some "tags" such as "honors reading list" for general use but have not done anything for just one user. Would showing teachers something like "librarything" where they can create their own personal database be more useful? They could put in a "tag" there including the dewey number. Or once they have the title of that "Red book" they can find it in my database. I think the two can work together but lets not try to make a library collection database too cumbersome.
