[LM_NET] Target: Looking for Book title

Hi All,

I have been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a book I read
this past summer. I've tried doing searches on Novellist and in some library
catalogs and can't come up with it. It is an adult level book with a teenage
protaganist. I think she is 14. It is set somewhere outside of London. The
main character falls for an older man who works in an electronics store. He
tells her at first he is around 26 then later confesses he is in his
thirties. Her family is pretty dysfunctional and seems to accept the
relationship. When things don't work out with the guy, she begins to cut
herself.
I remember that this was a first novel, the author was rather young, maybe
early 20s. The book received a starred review in Library Journal and was
published around 2004. The cover shows the girl's body but not her face. She
is laying in the grass. She has on a short plaid skirt and a polo shirt. Any
help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
