 Brian Cleary booksHow about Saving Sweetness & Raising Sweetness by Diane 
Stanley?I love using "Quick as a Cricket" by Audrey Wood.  We extend this
book by having the kids come up with other similes and illustrate
them...then we bind them into a class book!I’ve successfully used Raising 
Yoder’s Barn by Jane Yolen
