Hi, BookExpo will be held in New York City this year. I'm wondering if any LM_Netters have ever attended it and, if so, whether or not you feel that it's worth the time and money to attend. I'm sure that it has a different flavor and atmosphere from the big annual ALA summer conference, which I ALWAYS attend, but I'm curious to know if it is worth a school librarian's time and effort. The registration fee for librarian and educators is $75, and BookExpo's web site advertises many notable authors and autograph signings. And could one expect the many book and poster freebies which the ALA vendors distribute so generously?? I'll be happy to post a HIT from the replies which I hope to receive.
