I saw the movie last night with my husband and we both loved it, but the  
death was only unexpected because I was afraid it would be "Disneyfied" and have  
a "happy" ending.  Disney did great with this one, except for the  trailers. 
They give the impression that the whole movie all takes place in  a fantasy 
kingdom, and it is such a small portion of the movie, as it  should be.
I do agree that I would not take a small child, but for those students old  
enough to read the book, it is one of the best movie renditions of a  child's 
book I have seen.
