LM_NET Archive

LM netters,

I receive only LM Net Select, so I hope I'm not repeating a current
discussion.

Our school district recently began archiving all emails in response to
a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court.
This ruling is discussed on eschool news at
(http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showStory.cfm?ArticleID=6748 ).
I am curious how this will affect districts without the ability to
archive (I personally send or receive several hundred emails a month,
even without full LM Net subscription.:) Will this be costly for
schools to implement? Will districts attempt to restrict or manage
email as we do with using paper?
It's another wake-up call for employees who harbor the idea that their
emails are personal or private property. Will districts be tempted to
review email in determining whether employees will be retained?

Something to consider,
