LM_NET Archive

Thank you to all who posted on my request for help on Tessellations. I will
be doing a collaborative project with an elementary art teacher who is
looking for an interactive tessellation site or an "inexpensive" software
package.

The collaborative power of LM_Net comes through!!

My son had to do Tessellations for a math project and these are the web
sites we used because I didn't know what they were.

You will probably get this several times but try out project interactivate.

Click on activities, then geometry. Try out floor tiles first, the scroll
down to tessellate.

When I taught art to 7th graders a couple of years ago, I bought an
excellent video from Nasco Art Supply (or maybe it was Triarco), well,
anyway, they also had huge posters with the examples of the steps one takes
to make four different types of tessellations. The video is excellent
because the steps are demonstrated and the actual art projects themselves
are completed right before the students' eyes. They loved it; I loved it
because I was also able to buy the video on M.C. Escher who is given credit
for using the art of the tessellation-of course, tessellations can be found
in mosaic tiles from ancient times, esp. in Arabic countries.

Hope this helps.
