I attended my daughter's last day at high school band camp this
weekend. The final day was a day-long concert composed of all of the
bands demonstrating their talent for parents and visitors.

I giggled as I walked (or rather stepped around groups) through the
hallways toward the concert hall--- high school students were sittiing
on the floor waiting for their band to perform. Each student was
quietly engrossed in their HP book... which my daughter said had been
made available by the University's bookstore that morning at 7:00 a.m.
I bet I counted 20 copies in the hallway....and later saw parents
reading their copies during intermission! My daughter also noted that
everyone in her class (she's a senior this year) "grew up" with HP and
they all felt that their senior year was now complete as they all
started the series in elementary school and would be finishing it as a
senior.

(and by the way, my daughter was a bit annoyed by the fact that I had
pre-ordered the book to arrive before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, which it
did...but I did not realize that she would be at band camp that day
and we left before it arrived at home, so she had to wait until we got
back before she could start reading her copy! Oh, well....

....the best laid plans of mice and men.....)
