Dear Colleagues, I have an opportunity this summer to weed a library that is not my own. I am experienced with weeding and actually enjoy doing it. However, it will be quite a different experience to weed a library that is not mine. For non-fiction I know to look for copyright dates, dated photographs, oudated information (esp in science and world events), and general condition of the books. For fiction I will look at condition of books, dated covers and authors that no longer appeal to students. In general, I will need to know the curriculum of the school, budget for new purchases, grade level of the school, and any other general parameters provided by the librarian. I would appreciate any hints or suggestions in addition to the ones mentioned above.
