There was an article in the Orange County Register yesterday about analog TV. The
date of the last broadcast is either Feb 17, 2009,or Feb.19,2009. I can't remember
which date for sure. You will be able to purchase some type of box for around
$40.00 to continue to get the signal. Only those without cable or satellite will be
affected. They mentioned a program to offset the $40.00 cost for low income and
senior citizens. I tried to get the information from the Register online, but was
unable to find it.
I know it appeared in the Marketplace section on Sunday, March 4th, 2007.

As a former broadcaster who keeps in touch, the date you are concerned about is
sometime in January 2009 (I think). At that time, all over the air tv stations
must begin broadcasting in digital. I have to do more research, but I don't think
that means they will stop broadcasting in analog. It will probably take several
years after that--as analog transmission equipment wears out--before your analog TV
becomes obsolete.
