As many have said (and I agree) - there are advantages to controlled
vocabulary searching.
Still - imagine a catalog where you could choose the kind of search you
wanted to do:
1. A traditional subject search
2. A keyword search
3. A table of contents search
4. A full text search
In a world where everyone is drowning in information - how wonderful
would it be to be able to do a truly thorough search of our carefully
selected local holdings!
Ahhhh!! The dreams go on.....
How about "People who checked out this book, also checked out these
other books...."
How about .... "let us know what you think about this book"........
How about ..... "join a chat/discussion group about this
book".........
Yes, yes, yes, I know - filtering inappropriate comments, online
security and on and on. It is still worth dreaming!!
