[LM_NET] HIT: ELEM: 5th Grade Historical Fiction

Thank you for so many responses!  Everyone agreed that "The Boy in the Striped 
Pajamas" was too advanced for 5th grade.  A few of the wonderful alternatives I 
received were:
The Devil's Arthmetic by Yolen
Yellow Star by Jennifer Roy (recommended by almost everyone who responded!)
When the Soldiers Were Gone by Propp
The Night Crossing by Ackerman
It was also suggested I find a book with a male main character or a main character 
from Japan.  Some non WWII related suggestions were:
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
Bread and Roses by Katherine Paterson
Blood on the River: Jamestown 1607
My Name is Seepeetza
The Middle Five
I received well over 100 suggestions, so please search the archives for more ideas.
