I am looking for suggestions of books for a middle school audience in which a character undergoes a transformative experience through which he or she grows in ways that might not have been possible otherwise. Examples that come to mind are "Esperanza Rising" by Pam Munoz Ryan and "Hero" by S.L. Rottman. Thank you for your help.
