_Little Red Riding Hood: a Newfangled Prairie Tale_ by Lisa Campbell
Ernst
_The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig_ by Eugenios Trevisas
_Three Silly Girls Grubb_ by John Hassett
_That Awful Cinderella_ by Alvin Granowsky
_The Princess and the Pizza_ by Mary Jane Auch

Also, James Thurber's short story "The Princess and the Tin Box" is a
classic play on the basic "princess loves the poor prince with the heart
of gold" story and is an excellent way to teach irony.

Subject: Tales retold

Hi - Our seventh grade humanities teacher is working on a writing
project in which students take familiar tales and re-write them with
changes. Fractured fairy tales are one good model.

Do you have particular titles that you would recommend I share with this
teacher?

I will give her Gregory Maguire's Leaping Beauty, for sure. What else
would you recommend?
