Here is a list of all of the responses I received for your favorite book you read and would recommend to others. For Elementary - Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner (Not new for 2007, though) The Fablehaven series - I get review copies of books at home, which my kids (ages 21 & 23) read from time to time, and they both read this series and are now impatiently waiting for the next book to come out! I am enjoying "Deep and Dark and Dangerous : a Ghost Story by Mary Downing Hahn Titles I read this summer that are must haves.... Stephenie Meyer's Series- Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse- High School, 7th and 8th depending on your community Melissa DeLacruz series- Blue Bloods and Masquerade I also noticed that the Westerfield Series, Uglies, Pretties and Specials has a 4th book out- Cant remember the name, New character but fans of the series might like the new one?? I also read the House of Night series by Cast. I have a few that really stand out. Firegirl by Tony Abbott, Clemintine by Sara Pennypacker, Wings by William Loizeaux and Knuffle Bunny Too by Mo Willems. Edward Tulane by de Camillo The Lightning Thief by Riordan (MS/HS) Any Jodi Picoult (HS) She's hot with our readers right now The Twilight Series by Myers (Vampires) HS My students are fighting over the Twilight series. I have 2 copies but most of the students have purchased them because they can't wait! Our librarian's book club in Tulsa just finished Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, we really enjoyed that one and are anxious to read the sequels, definitely YA Princess Academy is very MSish but very enjoyable Miraculous journey of Edward Tulane is wonderful for elementary My fifth grade teachers just had to tell me that her students demanded she finish George Crum and the Saratoga chip / by Gaylia Taylor ,illustrated by Frank Morrison. today!!! They are loving this Texas Bluebonnet book. Brenda , hope it's not too late and that this works because I see the copyright it 2005 The Perfect Shot by Alphin is a great book. It is a mystery and it has connections to social studies and justice One that I loved was- Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer is the 3rd book in the Twilight series and that was really good as well. I know that someone has probably already recommended this, but I have to recommend A Thousand Splendid Suns by Hoseini (Kite Runner author) as it is probably the best book I have read this year. My students are reading it and loving it, too. Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers Love it!! One that I loved was- Life on the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer is the 3rd book in the Twilight series and that was really good as well. I'll be getting multiple titles of Crank by Ellen Hopkins as soon as I do another book order. This is a great book. It has become my new next-to-favorite book of all time (my new favorite book is "Uno's Garden" by Graeme Base but it was published in 2006 so doesn't count here). It is a laid back look at ecology, presented in a way that can fire the imagination of kids into saying "hey I can do that!" instead of asking them to "stop tropical de-forestation" for instance. I am reading it to almost all my kids, form preschool to 4th grade. The book is called On Meadow Street by Henry Cole Only one!!! Well, okay No Talking by Andrew Clements 4-6th grades... I would chose Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I think it is a must have for teachers as well as students. We always love the "quiet ones" in class. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer...it's the third in the Twilight series, has elements of vampire horror kids love, plus a great love triangle. It's been checked out 5 times in the month that school has been open. I would recommend "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan (and the other books in the series) for upper elementary and middle school libraries. I cannot keep this book on the shelf -- it's an all time favorite right now. Bad Girls Club- Gregerson Right Behind you - Giles #1 Angel Experiment - Maximum Ride - Patterson The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie. By the way, it was just announced as a National Book Award Finalist. For grade 8, good readers, and up: The Book Thief, by Zusak. I just finished it last week. Great book, for mature readers. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
