Hi, I am a doctoral student, and as an assignment this semester I must submit a book review for publication to a professional journal. (BTW, submission is the requirement, NOT acceptance). So, I read the Aug. 30 released title "School Reform and the School Library Media Specialist" by V. Harada and S. Hughes-Hassell, and have written a review. Now, the difficult part.... This assignment was made by a professor of Edu. Psychology. Apparently education journals take unsolicited reviews. Thus far, I have not been able to find ANY publications that might allow me to submit the review. I explained to the prof. that this is tricky in the library media world, as our professional publications use their own reviewers, and usually review in advance of publication. Nonetheless, the assignment stands. Is anyone familiar with ANY publication that allows submission of unsolicited reviews? I must turn in acknowledgement of receipt of submission with my review. I have read submission policies for numerous journals, and just have not found any that will consider unsolicited reviews. Panic: This is 75% of my grade for the course.
